Women under the umbrella of Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS) have reaffirmed their commitment to peace, unity and support for the political direction of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The women made the declaration during their monthly prayer meeting held on Thursday at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt, where participants from the 23 local government areas gathered to pray for the peace, stability and progress of Rivers State and Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Amaopuorubo Sotonye Toby Fulton urged members to remain steadfast in prayer, noting that their collective intercession has continued to contribute to the prevention of violence and crises in the state.
She said the prayer meetings have not only fostered peace but have also brought spiritual growth and personal testimonies to many members through their dedication to seeking God’s intervention.
Fulton stated that RWUS, as loyal supporters of Governor Fubara, would continue to identify with and support his political vision for Rivers State.
The group also reiterated its commitment to improving the economic well-being of women through skills acquisition and trade enhancement programmes. Members described the initiative as a significant step toward empowering women and improving livelihoods across the state.
Delivering a message on the theme, “Praise, Purpose, Pursuit and Productivity,” Dr. (Mrs.) Queen Karibi Botoye encouraged women not to lose hope in difficult circumstances.
According to her, “What may appear to man as the end is only a bend in God’s plan, and a bend is never the end. There is always light at the end of the tunnel.”
Also speaking, Barr. (Mrs.) Adata Bio-Briggs said the organisation remains committed to equipping women with practical skills and opportunities that will promote self-reliance, economic prosperity and sustainable development in all 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
She commended members for their active participation in the skills acquisition training held last week, which attracted more than 780 participants from across the state and neighbouring areas.
Participants expressed optimism that sustained unity, regular prayers and economic empowerment initiatives would enable women to continue playing a vital role in promoting peace, strengthening families and contributing to the overall development of Rivers State.
