A former Rivers State Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Sam Anya, popularly known as Akaekpuchionwa, has attributed the improved financial capacity of Abia State and increased development activities to the economic policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Dr. Anya, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), disclosed this yesterday at the APC Secretariat in Umuahia, Abia state where he said increased allocations to states had strengthened their capacity to pay salaries and undertake developmental projects.

According to him, Abia State, which he said received about ₦4 billion monthly during the previous administration, now receives over ₦30 billion monthly, alongside other revenues accruing to the state.

He credited the increase largely to the removal of fuel subsidy and other policies of the Tinubu administration.

“The good works that you are seeing in Abia today are the handiwork of President Bola Tinubu, and nobody can deny that fact,” Anya said.

He argued that state governments now have greater financial resources to meet their obligations, including payment of salaries, minimum wage and gratuities, as well as the execution of development projects.

“If these initiatives do not trickle down to the people, then the governor should be held responsible. The President has empowered the states to function,” he said.

Anya urged Abians to support the APC and President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections as a way of reciprocating what he described as the administration’s support for states.

Speaking on the party’s mobilisation efforts, the APC chieftain said the party had established a presidential campaign office in Ohafia to coordinate grassroots mobilisation across parts of Abia North Senatorial District.

He said the facility would serve as a mobilisation hub for supporters in Ohafia, Arochukwu and other neighbouring areas ahead of the elections.

Anya also commended President Tinubu for the emergence of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, as the leader of the APC in Abia State.

“We are proud of him and what he has achieved. Our responsibility is to continue to appreciate Mr President for his support,” Anya said.

He added that the party was working to ensure the victory of all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
