The lawmaker representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr., has expressed gratitude to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia South Senatorial District following his victory in the party’s senatorial primary election.
Erondu, who emerged as the APC candidate for Abia South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 General Elections, assured constituents of quality representation and sustained empowerment programmes if elected into the Senate.
According to the results announced by the Chairman of the 2026 Senatorial Primary Election Committee and presented in Umuahia by the returning officer, Barr. Erasmus Cishark, Erondu polled 15,982 votes to defeat his closest rival, Dr. Blessing Nwagba, who scored 4,556 votes.
Prince Paul Ikonne secured 4,322 votes, while Hon. Nyerere Anyim polled 4,022 votes.
Speaking at his Obingwa residence on Friday, the former Obingwa LGA, thanked his supporters, party stakeholders, and members of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee led by Barr. Erasmus Cishak for what he described as a transparent and credible process.
He commended the leadership of the APC in Abia State for conducting a peaceful, free, and fair primary election through the Option A4 voting system.
“The committee did a marvellous job in ensuring that the process was not only free and fair but transparently so because of the adoption of Option A4 for the primaries,” he said.
The Uhie-born legislator also lauded members of the national and local organising committees as well as his fellow aspirants for maintaining peace throughout the exercise.
“I am ready to work with all my opponents to deliver quality representation to the people of Abia South Senatorial District and ensure victory for our party, APC,” he stated.
Describing the contest as a family affair, the APC senatorial candidate said there were no real losers in the exercise and expressed optimism about working closely with other aspirants in the interest of the district and the party.
