Obianyi Emerges Labour Party Candidate for 2027 Ukwa-East State Constituency

The member representing Ukwa-East State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lewis Obianyi, has emerged as the Labour Party flagbearer for the 2027 State House of Assembly election in the constituency.

Hon. Obianyi secured a total of 3,600 votes during the party’s primary election held on Saturday at the Ukwa-East Local Government Council Headquarters in Akwete.

Declaring the results, the Returning Officer, Hon. Elvis Wabara, said the exercise was peaceful, transparent, and conducted in line with the guidelines of the Labour Party.

He commended party faithful and delegates for their orderly conduct throughout the primary process, noting that the outcome reflected the confidence reposed in the lawmaker by members of the party across the constituency.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Hon. Obianyi expressed gratitude to delegates, party leaders, and supporters for giving him another opportunity to represent the people of Ukwa-East.

He described the victory as a collective mandate and pledged to sustain effective representation, grassroots development, and people-oriented legislation if re-elected in 2027.

“I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming support shown to me today. This victory belongs to the people of Ukwa-East who have continued to believe in our vision for progress, unity, and sustainable development,” he said.

The lawmaker assured constituents that he would continue to prioritize infrastructural development, youth empowerment, education, and healthcare delivery across communities in the area.

Party stakeholders who spoke after the exercise expressed confidence in Obianyi’s leadership capacity and described him as a dependable representative committed to the welfare of his constituents.

The primary election attracted party officials, delegates, youth groups, and supporters from various wards across Ukwa-East Local Government Area.
