Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial Candidate for Abia South Senatorial District, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr., has inaugurated Local Government Area coordinators of his mandate supporters group across Obingwa, Aba North, Aba South and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas (LGAs), charging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure victory at the polls.

Speaking during separate inauguration ceremonies, recently held across the four local government areas, the lawmaker representing Obingwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, who was represented by Hon. Ukpom Prince Ezenwoke, urged members to remain united, focused and committed to the movement. He said the quest to represent Abia South Senatorial District in the Red Chamber is driven by the need to provide purposeful and result-oriented representation capable of attracting sustainable development and reconnecting the zone with greater opportunities at the centre.

The Uhie-born legislator maintained that Abia South has suffered from what he described as virtually zero federal presence, with little or no landmark federal projects to justify decades of representation.

According to him, the district has continued to witness neglect in the provision of critical infrastructure, poor road networks, inadequate youth and women empowerment programmes, limited federal employment opportunities, weak human capital development and the absence of major federal institutions and investments.

The former Chairman, Obingwa Local Government said the people of Abia South deserve a senator who will aggressively facilitate federal projects, attract strategic infrastructure, create employment opportunities, sponsor impactful legislation and ensure that the district enjoys its fair share of democratic dividends. He expressed confidence that, with the support of the people, the district could be repositioned for accelerated growth and development.

He therefore charged all coordinators and members to immediately commence aggressive grassroots mobilisation, community engagement and voter sensitisation, stressing that nothing should be left to chance in the collective effort to secure victory in the 2027 senatorial election.

Also speaking, the General Coordinator of the group, Pastor Okoro Chibuzor Adiele, described Hon. Erondu as a grassroots-oriented, accommodating and competent leader, urging members to return to their various communities to canvass support for the APC candidate. He also dismissed rumours suggesting that the lawmaker had lost the party’s backing, insisting that such claims were false and intended to distract supporters.

The Obingwa, Aba South, Ugwunagbo and Aba North coordinators—Comrade Chike Okeugo, Abana Chigozie Abana, Chief Oliver Ajuzie and Ashikogu Chikere, respectively expressed confidence in Hon. Erondu’s candidature and called on members to sustain house-to-house mobilisation, voter education and grassroots campaigns across the four local government areas.

The coordinators, in their separate remarks, unanimously vowed to deploy every legitimate means at their disposal to ensure that Hon. Erondu, emerges as the next Senator representing Abia South in 2027. They argued that despite the district’s enormous economic and human potential, it has continued to suffer from inadequate federal presence, poor infrastructure, weak human capital development, limited empowerment opportunities and the neglect of key federal projects.

They maintained that the district deserves a new era of proactive and people-centred representation that will attract landmark federal projects, improve infrastructure, expand educational and healthcare opportunities, create jobs for youths and women, and restore the confidence of the people in democratic governance.

The coordinators further pledged to work assiduously from the ward to the community level to strengthen the campaign structure and complement the activities of the mandate supporters group, expressing confidence that Hon. Erondu possesses the vision, experience, grassroots support and leadership capacity to champion the interests of Abia South Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
