Ibom Air Passenger Breaks Silence, Alleges Assault, Humiliation by Crew Member
A young Nigerian woman, Miss Comfort Emmanson, has spoken out on the controversial incident involving an Ibom Air flight attendant, alleging that she was assaulted, humiliated, and left traumatised during what should have been a routine flight.
In a lengthy statement shared on her Instagram page, @soft_commy, Emmanson recounted that the incident occurred on August 10, 2025, during a Uyo-to-Lagos flight. She alleged that a cabin crew member, identified as Julian Edwards, forcefully pulled off her frontal wig, cut her gold jewelry, damaged her mobile phones, and publicly insulted her.
According to Emmanson, trouble began during pre-flight checks when she struggled to switch off one of her mobile phones due to a faulty power button. Although a fellow passenger assisted her, she claimed the crew member took offense and later confronted her aggressively after the plane landed in Lagos.
“She blocked my way, preventing me from disembarking. When I tried to record her actions, she dragged me back, tore off my wig, broke my phones, and insulted me by calling me a prostitute,” Emmanson alleged.
She further stated that the altercation escalated when other crew members joined in, surrounding her and rough-handling her until her clothing was torn, leaving her bruised and exposed. To worsen matters, she lamented that video clips of the confrontation were circulated on social media, with some individuals turning her images into stickers.
“The trauma is unbearable. My body is now out there, used for mockery. I fear this will affect my career in real estate and even my personal life,” she said tearfully, adding that the ordeal has left her emotionally scarred.
Emmanson expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by her after the incident, especially when she was briefly detained. She maintained that she never refused to switch off her phone, contrary to claims against her.
As of press time, Ibom Air has yet to issue an official response to her latest allegations.
