APC Elects New Abia SWC, Receives 3 New Buses From Lawmaker Erondu Jnr

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has elected a new State Working Committee (SWC) in a peaceful and well-attended congress held in Umuahia today, reaffirming the party’s resolve to reposition itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The state congress, conducted on today, Tuesday in the Abia State capital, was chaired by Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Guan, who led the committee appointed by the party’s National Working Committee. The exercise was monitored by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner and the Abia State Commissioner of Police, and was widely described by stakeholders as orderly, transparent and rancour-free.

At the end of the proceedings, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu emerged as the new State Chairman through a consensus arrangement, alongside other members of the SWC and zonal leaders.

Addressing delegates after the exercise, Guan commended party leaders and members for ensuring a smooth process, describing the congress as a demonstration of unity and political maturity within the Abia chapter of the APC. He expressed confidence that the party is well positioned to deliver victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and secure the governorship seat in the state.

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and APC leader in Abia State, Benjamin Kalu, congratulated the newly elected officials and applauded stakeholders for fostering renewed cohesion within the party. He urged members to reciprocate what he described as the Federal Government’s support to Abia by working towards a decisive victory for the APC in the next general elections.

In his acceptance speech, the new State Chairman, Hon. Chijioke Chukwu, pledged to sustain unity within the party and expand its membership base across the 17 local government areas of the state. He assured party faithful that under his leadership, the APC would intensify efforts to win the confidence of Abians and take over the reins of government in 2027.

In a major highlight of the congress, Hon. Erondu Erondu Jr, member representing Obingwa-West State Constituency, donated brand new buses to the party to support its mobilization efforts. He expressed optimism that the APC would capture the Abia Government House in the next electoral cycle.

The congress witnessed a large turnout of accredited delegates and party faithful from across the state, underscoring what party leaders described as growing grassroots support for the APC in Abia.
