APC Stakeholders, Youths, Women Urge Erondu Jnr to Contest Abia South Senate Seat

Critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia South Senatorial District have called on the member representing Obingwa-West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, to contest the Abia South Senate seat in the 2027 general elections.

The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an enlarged meeting of APC stakeholders held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the country home of Erondu Jnr in Umuaro, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

In the communiqué read out by the former Commissioner for Information in Abia State, Chief Don Ubani, the stakeholders expressed dissatisfaction with the representation of the district at the Senate over the past two decades, stating that the people of Abia South were tired and ashamed of what they described as ineffective leadership.

They noted that there were no visible projects or achievements to justify the nearly twenty years of representation, stressing that the development needs of the senatorial district had been largely neglected.

The stakeholders further maintained that the prolonged period of representation had negatively impacted the people of the district, which comprises Aba North, Aba South, Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government Areas.

Consequently, they unanimously called on Erondu Jnr, whom they described as an illustrious son of Abia South, to heed their collective appeal to represent the district in the 11th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2027.

The communiqué was signed by several APC stakeholders across the senatorial district, including Elder Godwin O. Nna; Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley; Hon. Dimgba Eruba; Sir Don Ubani; Dr. Chimezie Charles Nwogu; Eze S. Nwanganga; Hon. Okezie Erondu; Hon. Prince Eze; Hon. Sir Abraham; Hon. Precious Achumba; Sir Okechi Nwaohu; Sir Ferdinand Onyemaechi; Chief Okechukwu Nweke; Hon. Okechukwu Prince; Comr. George C. Obuike; Hon. Prince Nwaokorie; Nwankpa Akpulonu; Mrs. Alaribe Victoria Ngozi; Nwogwugwu Ngozi Miriam; Hon. Goodluck Amaefule; Rt. Hon. Tony Mezie Nwubani; Hon. Prince Stanley Ogbonna; Goodluck Onwuka Nwagwu; Hon. Jude O. Martins; Hon. Azuka P. Chinweoke; Hon. Ukannwoke Nnabueze; Hon. Azubuike Moses; Chief Fred Eme; and Ogbonna Hope.

Similarly, the City Boys Movement, Abia South Zone, led by Comrade Justice Ogbonna, joined the growing call for the lawmaker to contest the Abia South Senatorial seat in 2027.

The group maintained that the legislator has demonstrated a strong track record in empowering youths and women, making him a credible choice to represent the zone at the Senate.

They further pledged to mobilize their resources to purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms for the Uhie-born lawmaker should he accept the call to contest.

Meanwhile, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Service, Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, expressed gratitude to the groups for finding him worthy of their call to contest the Abia South Senatorial seat.

He stated that his commitment over the years has always been focused on improving the welfare and living conditions of the people, particularly those of his constituency.

Erondu Jnr noted that party stakeholders ultimately have the final say in such decisions and said he was pleased to see critical stakeholders of the APC in Abia South urging him to contest the senatorial seat.

The former Chairman of Obingwa Local Government Area thanked them for their unwavering support and confidence in him, assuring that he would not let them down.

He also promised to give them a favourable response within 72 hours.

The event also witnessed a rainbow coalition of political interests, as critical stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia South Senatorial District reiterated their support for the lawmaker.
