2027: Ukwa-East, Ukwa-West, Ugwunagbo Endorse Lawmaker Erondu Jnr for Senate

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders from Ukwa-East, Ukwa-West, and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas of Abia State have unanimously endorsed the member representing Obingwa-West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, for the Abia South Senatorial District.

The endorsement followed a series of strategic consultations held in Akwete Ndoki (Ukwa-East), Ihie-Ukwu (Ugwunagbo), and Obehie (Ukwa-West), which attracted political leaders, party executives, women, and youth groups across party lines.

The stakeholders hinged their decision on Erondu Jnr’s track record of massive empowerment of women and youths, noting that it has endeared him to the people. They described him as a man of proven capacity who has performed creditably with the opportunities he has had, expressing confidence that he would deliver even more if elected to the Senate.

In his remarks, the member representing Ukwa-East/Ukwa-West Federal Constituency and APC chieftain, Hon. Chris Nkwonta, said the endorsement was driven by Erondu Jnr’s consistency, loyalty, and demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people. He stressed that the district could no longer afford years of ineffective representation, adding that Erondu Jnr’s empowerment initiatives and support for both allies and constituents have earned him widespread trust. He assured that the people would stand firmly behind his ambition.

Also speaking, the Commissioner representing Abia State on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Dimgba Eruba, described Erondu Jnr as a unifying figure with a deep understanding of the needs of the people. He emphasized the unity within the APC in Ukwa-West and the resolve of stakeholders to deliver overwhelming support in 2027, while urging the lawmaker to sustain his people-oriented programmes, especially in infrastructure and human capital development.

Also, a former Abia State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Chinwe Nwanganga, commended Erondu Jnr’s leadership style and generosity, noting that his empowerment initiatives have made visible impacts across communities. He expressed confidence in his ability to effectively represent the district at the National Assembly.

In his contribution, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Uzo Azubuike, described Erondu Jnr as a grassroots politician with a strong connection to the people. He urged stakeholders to remain united, adding that the lawmaker possesses the experience and goodwill needed to attract meaningful development to Abia South.

A stakeholder from Obingwa LGA, Elder Godwin Nnah, highlighted Erondu Jnr’s youthfulness, energy, and accessibility, noting that these qualities set him apart. He called on the people to rally behind him to usher in a new era of purposeful representation.

Also lending their voices, Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley and Chief Don Ubani, described Erondu Jnr as a worthy son of Abia South who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the welfare of the people. They noted that Erondu Jnr had facilitated many political appointments and jobs in Ukwa land, hence, the need to support him to do more at the Federal level. They assured him that the grassroots would be fully mobilized in support of his ambition.

In their separate remarks, the APC Local Government Chairmen of Ugwunagbo, Ukwa-West, and Ukwa-East; Hon. Aguwamba Uchenna Rex, Hon. Success Enyinna, and Hon. Chiwuike Ekeke; alongside the Women Leaders, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Chinoyerem (Ugwunagbo), Mrs. Happiness Ahukanna (Ukwa-West), and Mrs. Agomuo (Ukwa-East), as well as Youth Leaders including Chief Chidiebere Iheme (Ukwa-West), Mr. Peter Akarahu (Ukwa-East), and the Abia South Zonal Youth Leader, Hon. Goodhope Nwagbara, unanimously pledged their unalloyed support for Erondu Jnr.

They lauded his deliberate inclusion of women and youths through sustained empowerment programmes, noting that such people-oriented initiatives have strengthened grassroots participation and improved livelihoods. The party leaders assured that they would mobilize massively across their respective LGAs to ensure sustained backing for his senatorial ambition throughout the electioneering period.

Responding, Erondu Jnr appreciated the overwhelming show of support and reassured the people of inclusive representation. He pledged to expand empowerment initiatives and ensure that no part of the district is left behind if elected.

The consultations, which recorded large turnouts across the host communities, ended with a collective resolve by stakeholders to mobilize massive support to actualize Erondu Jnr’s senatorial ambition in the 2027 elections.

Other dignitaries at the event included: APC Abia South Zonal Chairman, Sir Justice Onwumelu, City Boys Chieftain in Abia South, Hon. Monday Chikezirim Orji, Chief Eze Nwanganga, Hon. Precious Achumba, Hon. John Ajuziogu, Rt. Hon. Chimezie Nwaubani, and Sir Okechi Nwaohu, among others.
