Abia Lawmaker Obianyi Applauds Otti Over Ultra-Modern Hospital for Ohanku Ndoki
The Member representing Ukwa East State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lewis Obianyi, has commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for approving the construction of a state-of-the-art General Hospital in Ohanku Ndoki, describing the development as a landmark intervention in the healthcare sector of the area.
Interacting with newsmen on the development recently, Hon. Obianyi said the award of the project underscores the Governor’s commitment to equitable development and improved healthcare delivery across Abia State, particularly in underserved communities.
He noted that the proposed ultra-modern facility would significantly enhance access to quality medical services for residents of Ohanku Ndoki and neighbouring communities in Ukwa East Local Government Area, who often travel long distances to access secondary healthcare services.
“This project is a life-saving intervention. It will reduce maternal and infant mortality, provide emergency and specialist care closer to the people, create employment opportunities, and stimulate socio-economic activities within the constituency,” the lawmaker stated.
Hon. Obianyi emphasized that the establishment of the General Hospital aligns with the state government’s broader health sector reforms aimed at strengthening public health infrastructure and ensuring that no community is left behind.
The lawmaker also commended the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry and Traditional Ruler of Ikwuorie Autonomous Community, His Royal Majesty Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, for donating portions of land to the Abia State Government for the project.
He described the gesture as patriotic and development-driven, noting that public-spirited contributions such as this accelerate progress and complement government efforts.
“His Royal Majesty has demonstrated uncommon love for his people and commitment to community advancement. This partnership between government and traditional institutions is a model for sustainable development,” Obianyi said.
Reaffirming his support for Governor Otti’s administration, the lawmaker pledged to continue collaborating with the executive arm of government to attract more developmental projects to Ukwa East and ensure that constituents fully benefit from the dividends of democracy.
He expressed optimism that the new General Hospital would not only improve health outcomes but also strengthen confidence in public healthcare services, thereby contributing to the overall well-being and productivity of the people of Ukwa East.
