The Rivers State Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, Dr. Chisom Kenneth Gbali, has urged staff of the ministry to remain committed and proactive as the government prepares to launch a new phase of youth employment and empowerment programmes across the state.

Dr. Gbali gave the charge on Monday, October 20, 2025, during a meeting with ministry staff in his office, emphasizing the need for focus, teamwork, and readiness ahead of the forthcoming initiatives.

He warned against complacency, noting that “people often lose focus when things appear to be going smoothly,” and advised all staff to remain dedicated to their duties.

The Commissioner disclosed that the ministry would commence activities with the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and key officials to strengthen internal coordination for efficient service delivery. He further directed all directors and assistant directors to submit concise reports on ongoing activities to support the ministry’s planning and execution process.

According to Dr. Gbali, the new drive aligns with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s vision to expand employment and empowerment opportunities for Rivers youth.

“I’m not here to be idle; I’m here to work actively as a young leader,” he stated, adding that the ministry’s success depends on the collective effort of all staff members.

He cautioned against indifference, stressing that those who fail to contribute meaningfully should not complain when progress is achieved.

Dr. Gbali announced that a capacity-building workshop will hold on Tuesday, marking the beginning of intensive activities aimed at enhancing youth welfare and development.

He commended the staff for their commitment and assured them that the ministry is poised to begin “serious work” for the benefit of young people across Rivers State.
