A family in Oke Ogba, Akure, Ondo State, has been thrown into mourning following the mysterious deaths of three siblings whose bodies were discovered on their father’s farm.

The victims were identified as 11-year-old twins, Joshua and Jacob Jonah, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing.

The children reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday but left for home while he remained behind to continue his work.

Concern reportedly arose after their father returned home and could not find them. A search was subsequently launched, leading to the discovery of the three bodies on Saturday near the bank of a small river within the farm.

The circumstances surrounding the deaths remained unclear as of Sunday, with the police saying investigations were underway.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident, saying the command had commenced an investigation to establish what happened to the children.

Police said the bodies had been released to their father for burial while documentation and investigation continued.

The deaths have left residents of the community searching for answers, particularly over how three children from the same family died at the same location.

Authorities are expected to establish whether the deaths were caused by drowning, poisoning, an accident or any other circumstance. No cause of death had been officially announced at the time of filing this report.
