2027: Old Aba Division Forum Endorses Tinubu, Opah, Erondu Jnr, others
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Old Aba Division People’s Forum has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Chief Eric Opah, alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates from the Old Aba Division.
The Forum, comprising members from the Ukwa/Ngwa area, announced its position in a communiqué issued after a meeting held on Friday in Aba, Abia State.
Reading the communiqué today, Elder John Nwangborogwu said the Forum’s decision to support Opah was based on his roots in the Old Aba Division and his record of achievements over the years.
The Forum described Opah as an “aboriginal son” and “Nfu-La-Ala, Nwa-Afo Ukwa/Ngwa,” noting that the APC’s decision to nominate him as its governorship candidate informed the group’s resolve to align with and support the party at the state and national levels.
“In the light of the above, we have resolved to totally align with and massively support the APC in Abia State and Nigeria as a whole,” the communiqué stated.
The Forum congratulated Opah on his emergence as the APC governorship candidate and pledged to mobilise support for his election in 2027.
It also declared its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while urging him to be wary of reported promises by the Labour Party in Abia State to support his re-election bid.
According to the Forum, such assurances should not be taken at face value, as it described them as politically deceptive.
The group also endorsed Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr for Abia South Senatorial District; Rt. Hon. Uzo Azubuike for Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency; Hon. Chris Nkwonta for Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency; Prince Udo Alozie for Obingwa/Ugwunagbo/Osisioma Federal Constituency; and Chief Sir Uzoma Ihuka for Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency.
The Forum further pledged support for all APC House of Assembly candidates from the Old Aba Division, Ukwa/Ngwa area.
The communiqué was endorsed by members of the Forum, whose names and signatures were attached to thi document:
