An Abia-born business mogul, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyasọ has lauded international football star Uchenna Kanu for her dedication and resilience, as he joined other dignitaries at the official launch of her new book, Football My Escape, held yesterday (Tuesday, December 2, 2025), at MADHouse, University of Lagos (UNILAG) Lagoon Front, Lagos.
Dr. Anyasọ further commended Kanu for her inspiring story and the courage to document it.
In his words: “Congratulations, my dear sister. Your journey is a testament to hard work and perseverance. I believe this book will ignite the dreams of many young athletes.”
Anyasọ, popularly known as Ofuji Ndi Igbo and holder of the “Obi Bende’’ chieftaincy title, was among the distinguished guests and had the honour of unveiling the book. The international businessman and philanthropist from Igbere described the project as an important contribution to Nigeria’s sporting and literary landscape.
The colourful event, drew supporters, fans, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Kanu, a native of Uzuakoli in Bende LGA of Abia State, and her inspiring journey to global football prominence.
Football My Escape chronicles Kanu’s rise from a small community to becoming one of Nigeria’s most celebrated female footballers, highlighting her passion, struggles, and triumphs.
The event was marked by tributes, warm interactions, and heartfelt reflections on Kanu’s impact, both as an athlete and as a role model within her community and across the nation.
