Organisers of the 2025 Convention of the Alumni of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (AMAN), Oron, say the event will serve as a strategic platform to drive regional policy alignment and innovation within Africa’s maritime sector.

According to the planning committee, the convention — scheduled to attract maritime professionals, policymakers, industry regulators, and investors — is designed not only as a reunion of graduates from the academy but as a catalyst for sustainable industry development.

They noted that the gathering will provide an avenue to deliberate on evolving global maritime trends, strengthen cooperation among Gulf of Guinea nations, and propose policy directions capable of advancing maritime safety, security, and capacity building in the region.

“The AMAN Convention is no longer just about reconnecting; it is now a major forum for shaping maritime policy and fostering innovation,” the organisers stated, adding that alumni remain committed to supporting government efforts in developing a robust maritime economy.

Beyond policy discussions, the event will feature technical presentations, networking sessions, award recognitions, and career support initiatives for young maritime professionals.

Stakeholders expect the outcomes of AMAN 2025 to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s blue economy agenda and reinforce the academy’s legacy as a hub for regional maritime expertise.
