Nigeria has produced one of its youngest commercial pilots, 18-year-old Mohammed Aminu Sani, who recently obtained a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot License from Phoenix East Aviation (PEA) in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Sani, who completed his training in just 10 months without a single checkride failure, described his achievement as the realization of a lifelong dream.

“Becoming a pilot has always been my childhood dream. Today, I’m proud to be living that dream,” Sani said. “It’s been an incredible journey filled with discipline, focus, and hard work. I hope my story inspires others to pursue their dreams with determination.”

Born and raised in Abuja, Sani obtained his High School Diploma from Al-Hidaayah Academy before proceeding to The Regent College, Abuja, where he graduated with Distinction in Economics Foundation. His strong academic foundation paved the way for his aviation training in the United States.

At Phoenix East Aviation, one of the world’s top FAA-accredited flight schools, Sani trained under diverse flight conditions, including night operations, cross-country flights, and instrument-rated navigation in low visibility. He accumulated over 50 flight hours on multi-engine aircraft, including the PA-34-200 Seneca, and more than 30 hours of cross-country experience.

Holding an FAA Commercial Pilot License (AMEL), Sani now aims to join a major international airline to continue developing his career while representing Nigeria on the global aviation stage.

His accomplishment stands as a beacon of hope for Nigerian youths, proving that age is no barrier to excellence and that dreams can take flight with dedication and passion.
