Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the 12.2-kilometre Trans-Kalabari Road project, describing it as a transformative infrastructure for the Kalabari communities.
Governor Fubara, who inspected the project on Monday, October 27, 2025, alongside the management team of Lubriks Construction Company, commended the contractors for the quality and progress of work, noting that about 75 percent of the piling for Phase One has been completed.
“I personally came here to inspect this project — the Trans-Kalabari Road we flagged off about a year ago,” the governor said. “I’ve been getting reports from the Ministry of Works, but I felt the need to see things for myself. This first phase, which extends to Bakana, involves four river-crossing bridges and nearly five decks on piles. It’s a technically challenging project due to the difficult terrain.”
Fubara expressed optimism that the project would soon reach a major milestone. “By the grace of God, in the next six months when we return for another inspection, we might be able to drive through the bridge,” he stated confidently.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to people-centered development, Governor Fubara said the Trans-Kalabari Road will greatly improve accessibility and economic activities in the area once completed.
“This is a key project that will immediately transform the lives of the Kalabari people and enhance development across the region,” he added.
